Sundays can be such good days for getting out and getting active. Usually I don’t have the same time pressures that I have during the week. Unless I create them myself! Like I did yesterday…
Yesterday I got consumed in the multitude of things I want to get done before tomorrow. That is, until I spoke with some friends of mine about catching up and getting our children together and managed to refocus on what was important. Yes, as much as I hate to admit it sometimes, I’m as capable as anyone of forgetting to live in the moment – or livepresent.
So back to exercise and activity. There’s a lot of focus on the importance of a minimum 30 minutes a day of activity to be healthy. The easiest way I’ve found to keep at it is to find things you enjoy doing and work out how to fit your life around them. This is all about you.
If you don’t know what that means – I’ve learned that the best thing is to just start somewhere. Do anything, or a range of things, that get you out and about, without watching the clock. Stop comparing yourself to other people – what they do, or don’t do – and work out what your parameters are.
Things like: what time of day works best, and day(s) of the week? who do I need, or want, to be with (i.e. children)? where can I do this – what sort of transport to get there? what skills or equipment, if any, do I need before I can start? will there be a cost, or a membership? do I want to participate in competitive activity, or something that’s just for fun?
When I go back to basics and refocus, I’m always amazed at how easy it is to get back on track. Know what I mean?
